COMING In October...The Immersion Festival
This will be an all day and evening multi media melting meeting of the tribes event with friends like Steve Roach, Loren Nerell, and others to be held at the DA Gallery in downtown Pomona. Many more details forthcoming in early September, but mark your calendar for Saturday October 17.New Music From Gayle Ellett & Fernwood
Following on the heels of their widely heralded debut release "Almeria", this 12-track offering greatly expands upon their previous work. Utilizing an expanded palette of world instruments, Gayle Ellett (Djam Karet) and Todd Montgomery create music that is both familiar and exotic, lush and melodic, warm and inspirational. They create contemporary acoustic music that is beautiful and elegant, with a strong cinematic and pan-cultural feel. By playing traditional World instruments in new and interesting ways, they have created a new hybrid style that is uniquely their own. And it is these qualities that make the music of Fernwood the perfect antidote for our modern, stress-filled lives. On "Sangita", the group combines many apparently disparate concepts into a unified whole. They've tried to infuse the music with many seemingly diverse qualities such as: traditional and modern, Americana and World, familiar and exotic, simple and complex, rural and urban, etc, and they've succeeded at this very difficult task. And although the music sometimes has a frail and delicate sound, at other times it is extremely rich and dense, with as many as 50 instruments being used in a single composition, giving "Sangita" an almost orchestral sound. There is also no compression or other digital effects or manipulations used on the recording (except for reverb) so "Sangita" has a very fresh, lively and organic sound.
Check out sound samples and it is available for $11.99 NOW!

DJAM KARET 25th ANNIVERSARY TOUR 2009
The award-winning instrumental music group Djam Karet will be performing a few select live performances this year, both in the United States and in Europe, to celebrate their 25th anniversary together. These will be their first performances in seven years. On August 22nd 2009 Djam Karet will be the headliner at a 3-day Progressive music festival called the Crescendo Festival, located on the beautiful west coast of France. For more then 10 years, this great festival has been held every August in the picturesque seaside town of Saint Palais sur Mer. Djam Karet feels very honored to be this year's headliner at this important European festival. Djam Karet will also be performing at a few Los Angeles area events in the weeks prior to the French show, the details of which are still being worked out. Updated information on these performances will be available soon, including times and locations.
Formed in 1984, they have released 15 albums so far. The group will be performing music from throughout their long career, much of which has never been performed live before. They will also be debuting some brand new tunes as well. These shows are a rare opportunity to see a group that ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN Magazine said "Rivals the glory days of Pink Floyd". These will be the first live shows by Djam Karet since they performed at NEARfest with Porcupine Tree in 2001, and at ProgDay with Happy The Man in 2002.
Working in their private studio, Djam Karet has been able to create a full and massive live sound by adding an additional player to their live performances. For these performances the line up is: Gayle Ellett (keyboards & guitar), Mike Henderson (guitar), Aaron Kenyon (bass), Chuck Oken, Jr. (drums & electronic percussion) Mike Murray (guitar).
New music and new arrangements of older tunes, are the main focus. There are also some new CD projects nearing completion, with more information to be announced later.
